2025 Show

82nd Packington Village Show

This year's 82nd Annual Village Show took place at Packington Memorial Hall on Saturday 6th September 2025, with another fantastic turnout from local residents and visitors from neighbouring villages.

The show once again showcased a wonderful display of flowers and spectacular vegetables, alongside some quirky entries that raised plenty of smiles. The home baking tables were filled with perfectly risen Victoria sponges, tangy lemon drizzle cakes, flapjacks, scones and more, while the preserves, pickles, and handcrafted items from adults and juniors alike proved popular.

After the judging was complete, visitors were welcomed back in to admire the exhibits. Pizzas from Biddulph’s Pizzeria were a hit, while the bar kept drinks flowing throughout the evening.

The raffle saw some brilliant prizes up for grabs, generously donated by local businesses and supporters. Lucky winners walked away with treats and vouchers from Poochies, Hill Farm, Tesco, Woodlander, W Taylor Butchers and The Garden Warehouse as well as a Leicester City stadium tour, Villair holiday voucher, and a three month membership from Bluestone Fitness to name a few.

This year’s show saw an extra celebration as the High Sherriff of Leicestershire, Mr Stephen Bryan, took to the stage to present a special, and much deserved, award to Peter Swift of Daybreak Services for his continued services to the local community.

Trophies, Cups and Medals were then presented to entrants winning the most points or best in class in certain categories. Brian Parry was presented with an RHS certificate of merit in recognition of all the years he has entered produce and supported the show, whilst Lisa Gammon collected the Baking of Excellence Medal and Isaac Grant received the PHS Junior Medal for the most meritorious entry in the junior categories. The coveted RHS Banksian Medal, for most points in the vegetable, flowers and fruit sections, was awarded to Louise Livesey for the second year running.

As always, the event culminated in the much-anticipated auction of the exhibits. Friendly competition meant baskets of produce, flowers, baked goods along with the winning Dundee cake sparked some lively rounds of bidding. A Spa Day generously donated by Champneys Springs was also added to the auction and sold for £140 alone.

This year marked the first show under the leadership of new Chairperson, Laura Bryant, who said: “I would like to thank everybody who exhibited, attended, viewed, bought raffle tickets and bid in the auction that made the 82nd Packington Village Show such a success. Your generosity and enthusiasm mean we can continue to support a number of our local village groups and clubs, as well as contributing to the continued financial stability of local charities such as Rainbows children’s hospice, the Air Ambulance and Hospice Hope. It has been such a pleasure to see the hall filled with community spirit, laughter and friendship. I’m so grateful to the committee, our volunteers and our generous sponsors, we couldn’t do it without you. I look forward to continuing this village tradition together for many more shows in the years ahead.”

Details about the amount of money raised and which local groups and charities will benefit from donations will be published at a later date.

Congratulations to all this year's winners! A full list can be found here - and thank you to everyone that helped our 82nd Show another success.

Photos from the show, including Trophy, Cup and Medal winners will also be available on the website in the coming days.
